“I unabashedly, without hesitation, recognize Tisziji as a genius, but not the type of genius that most people are familiar with. Not a genius of academic credentials, memory, language, technique, art, culture and tradition, but more a voodoo, juju, native, Shamanic Spirit genius. One who is free to recreate the world, in the moment, all at once, to serve the needs of Spirit, not the self. This kind of genius by definition remains underground and does its work without concern for recognition or acceptance, far removed from any social, artistic or business circles whatsoever. The truth of this makes Tisziji's appearance at Jordan Hall (New England Conservatory) all the more extraordinarily rare and unusual. No one here is suggesting that anyone could or should follow this path. Nevertheless I feel that it was a great gift for the people to be exposed to a kind of Spirit they would never ordinarily see or hear. The intensity of the Light generated by this music may serve to illuminate a path out of darkness for some beings. Certainly it has for me.
